I stumbled upon the new That's Bananas Cien collection in Lidl the other day. The packaging drew me in for sure, and I decided to buy a couple of things because of the interesting mousse texture.
Cien banana hand mousse |
Isn't the colourful packaging so neat? Besides that, the supposed mousse texture of the products made me buy both the hand and lip mousse.
Cien is Lidl's own brand, and they tend to have nice products in their limited collection, I never really had a flop so far. The ingredients appeared friendly too:
Cien That's Bananas hand mousse ingredients |
Ingredients:
It is a water and glycerin based hand cream, which also includes a lot of grapeseed oil, shea butter and banana extract. It also has a bit of silicone in it, hence the silky feeling. There is also citric acid, which is usually there to reguate the pH level. I have no problem with fragrance in cosmetics (as of now), however, if you are sensitive to them, this hand cream also includes 3 kinds of them. Other than that, it is indeed a friendly INCI list.
While it is not a 100% mousse (think shaving mousse), it is definitely a fluffier formula of hand cream. It sinks in quickly and leaves a plump feeling on the skin, though it is not that different from a regular hand cream. Both the hand and lip mousse smell like artificial banana, though it is not as fake smelling as some other banana scented products on the market.
Cien That's Bananas lip mousse |
The Cien That's Bananas lip mousse is not really an actual mousse texture either, it feels like a rich overnight lip mask. Thankfully it is not the slippery kind thanks to the beeswax in it, so it stays on for longer and feels nourishing. More on that when I talk about the ingredients.

Ingredients:
It is a castor oil based lip balm, so you need to avoid hella heat with this guy, as castor oil starts to smell dreadful if it goes off due to heat. It also has 2 kinds of beeswax in it, so the texture is lovely and will not slide right off. Coconut oil and skin conditioning ingredients also follow lead, along with panthenol, vitamin E and banana extract. There is also some aroma in it for the taste, and mica for the shimmer. A really nice, friendly INCI list too (unlike Carmex).
Cien That's Bananas lip mousse on the lips (gold shimmer) |
It has subtle gold shimmer in it and shines like a lipgloss. The formula of the lip mousse is not sticky at all, and provides care for a good chunk of the day, I didn't feel the need to reapply it. What I didn't like is the taste and smell, both are really synthetic but neither of them linger for a long time.
Hand mousse - 75 ml
Lip mousse - 9 ml

Both of the Cien That's Bananas products have traditional openings that are average for their product types.

Here you can see how they look applied and then blended out. Only the hand mousse looks different from average hand creams, the lip mousse looks just like any other lip care product in a squeeze tube, plus the gold shimmer.

Both products are really affordable, you can get them at Lidl for 499 HUF (less than $2). It is a limited edition. The collection also has a big tub of hair conditioner and other pieces too.
