I introduce a new series on the blog, in which I do a throwback to the Catrice liquid metal eyeshadows. These posts entail a mixture of reviews and shop-my-stash posts in one. Come, walk down memory lane with me!

The concept of throwback posts is not new, nor is it my unique idea. However, I will explain what it means to me and how I will incorporate it into my posts.
I have hundreds of folders on my laptop with photos for unwritten reviews. I have spent hours photographing and editing them. So far, so good. The problem is most of these products are discontinued now (looking at you, Essence and Catrice). Now, obviously I would still like to show you the photos I took, and considering how the beauty world nowadays is fixated on buying more and more new stuff, it would be useful if we focused on products we already own, but probably forgot about them. Hopefully, it will inspire fellow makeup lovers to go through their drawers and pull out forgotten but well-loved cosmetics.
To sum it up, my throwback posts will be reviews of discontinued products to motivate others to give love to products that aren't new and to get more use out of their collection. In the case of makeup that came out years ago but is still available on the market, I will just write regular review posts. I hope that makes sense, I tend to over-explain things.

Now, moving on to the stars of the show today, the Catrice liquid metal 3D eyeshadows. Do you remember them? I believe they came out in 2013 but I took these photos in 2014, so these pics are 6 years old. I'm going to hit you with my blog motto: better late than never. I know many people bought these eyeshadows, they were very popular, so why not pull them out again?

throwback to 2013 |
When these came out, I thought they were the permanent version of the limited edition SpectaculART baked gelée eyeshadows. Not quite, unfortunately. They don't state it on the back what kind of shadows they are, but they feel like regular eyeshadows. These guys are definitely not as smooth as the classic baked gelée (think MAC Extra Dimension) products. The texture of these 3D eyeshadows is very soft, therefore the top layer with the oval patterns easily crumbles, so pat them in when applying. They are also greatly pigmented, plus you can use them both wet and dry, at least I have used them as such.
Besides the many little oval shapes on the surface, these Catrice liquid metal eyeshadows also have a big 3D wave pattern on them, similar to what Kiko did a while back. I do love 3D products, so that is already a good thing in my eye.
Catrice 3D eyeshadow swatches - Nougat It Right; Gold n' Roses |
There were many shades available, and I bought these two first. The chocolate brown colour is Nougat It Right, and the pink one is called Gold n' Roses, I have used it in a look here. Pink and brown look really good together, so they are a perfect match.

Later I got the purple one, you can see a makeup look with it here, it is one of my favourite posts. When Catrice started to discontinue them, I purchased a whole bunch, it is quite possible I own all of them, so that shows you how much I enjoy these guys. Not a classic baked gelée formula, but the closest thing to it in the classic eyeshadow realm.
Do you own any of the Catrice liquid metal eyeshadows?
~ Evinde
I bought the products with my own money.
