Essence did a beautiful job on the Lights of Orient collection, everyone went crazy for it. This beautiful limited edition finally showed up in my country as well, I found an intact display 2 weeks ago. I will show the eyeshadow palette and the blush in today's review, including lots of photos.
Essence Lights of Orient collection
My store must have put it out early because it wasn't supposed to be at stores 'til the middle of May. Again, I bought mine at the beginning of the month. This LE is only available at Müller, which is quite a bummer. It would have been nice to see it at Rossmann as well, so more people have access to it.
Essence Lights of Orient display (with prices / árak)
There are no testers for most of the products on the display, so I have the sad feeling that by the time I get to a Müller again, the display will be destroyed. I could only afford 4 products on the first go, but I still have my eyes on the rest of the collection.
People like to swatch non-tester products a lot, ruining embossed products in the process. Not only do we have a limited amount, but also the ones that stay on the display will be ruined by finger swatches. It's quite sad, yet happens many times. I remember there was a snowflake highlighter in an Essence LE a while back, and all 5 of the products on the display were ruined by finger swatches. ALL of them. Not just one, but ALL of them. I would usually just still buy it and disinfect it, but if it's a product with an overspray or embossment that got completely ruined, there isn't much to do.
Essence Lights of Orient blush and bronzers
There are three absolutely beautiful face powders in the collection: one blush and two bronzers. These gems are the best part of the collection in my opinion, the embossment on the surface of the powder is unique and gorgeous. This is why I'm concerned about people swatching the non-testers, they will completely ruin the powder.
I will review already reviewed the bronzers in a separate blogpost, read it here!

Another wonderful piece of the Lights of Orient collection is the eyeshadow palette. Look at that gold and black case! There is a tester for it on the display, thank goodness.

It is an amazing palette, especially for Autumn and Winter. It includes lots of rosy tones, golds, browns and a cranberry colour as well. I went to the store with my mom, and she also said that the entire collection is basically a Fall / Winter collection, and I have to agree.

The eyeshadows have a different formula from the current smooth and silicone-packed Essence shadow formula. This palette has "oldschool" Essence eyeshadow formula if you will, kinda like the Lovely Cosmetics nude palettes. The eyeshadows are very pigmented and easy to work with. There is one matte shade only, the rest are shimmery.

I could pass the palette as a summer one if I didn't use the cranberry rosy shades, and that's what I'm gonna do probably. If you want a separate makeup look using the products, let me know.

The Essence Lights of Orient blush has a beautiful pattern on it as well. The blush itself consists of two shades: a rosy pink in the middle and a darker mauve shade around it. It has tiny shimmers to it, but it's not super noticeable on the face.
Essence Lights of Orient blush - Princess Jasmine's Choice ingredients
The typo kinda bugs me in the shade name, it should have been Jasmine's. What can you do. You get 7g of product, which is more than the average blush amount. You can also check the ingredients on the photo above.

The blush blends out nicely and stays put all day if applied correctly. Make sure you use a light hand because the darker shade is very pigmented.

I have to say that I haven't been this excited about an Essence collection in years, they did an absolutely amazing job with this one. I wish they made the products permanent. Everyone went hog wild for this collection, why not make it permanent, Essence? Pretty please.
I will be back with a review about the bronzers. I wanted to include them in this post, but I have way too many photos to smush them in one single review post.
Have you picked up anything from the Lights of Orient collection? Do you have your eyes on something in the LE?

I purchased this beautiful goodness myself.
Nagyon nagyon vadászom, szinte üldözöm :D A Müllerben végül "megszántak" az eladók, vettek fel rá előrendelést, és ha megérkezik telefonálnak. Nagyon várom már :]
ReplyDeleteAz szuper! :)
DeleteI picked nothing up this time, even though—or rather because—this TE is right down my alley. The thing is, I already have more than enough colors which are quite similar, and better in quality. I was contemplating the blush, but I am not a collector, I actually use the products I buy from these Limited Editions, and without a tester I simply wasn't sure how the deep mauve would go with my skintone. I do wish Essence would offer more testers/samplers, especially so that these beautifully embossed limited edition items wont get destroyed. I too hate if there's, like, five of a thing, and not a single one without a fingerprint or smear on the surface. :( I'll regale myself with the thought that these people will all eventually get what they deserve and end up getting infected with herpes or something like this. ;p

They used to have testers for everything in LEs, I don't know why they changed that. I do agree with you, hopefully karma will get those people.
DeleteI would love to collect these embossed type of items, but oh, I don't have the financial resources for that. I decided that I will use them but only the lower half of each powder, so the upper half will stay pretty and intact. Thank you for stopping by, Sandra. :)
Tudom,h a bronzositorol kesobb irsz, de holnap megyek megvenni oket es muszaj lenne tudnom,h erdemes-e:) A sotetebbet raktak el nekem. Akar emailben is jo lenne, csak annyit, h jo-e es vegyem-e :) mailofmia at yahoo
DeleteKoszi:) mindenkepp a sotetet terveztem, mert most egyaltalan nem vagyok feher. Nem is latszana mar rajtam.
DeleteAz ecset milyen? Jonak tunik?
DeleteGyönyörűek a paletta swatchok *.*
