Happy Halloween!
The day many people await all year is finally here, and both September and October went by way too fast. I'm super glad I was able to do a Halloween look this year, so here's to my weeping willow forest spirit makep look for Halloween.

Guess I should write about how I came up with the idea. We have a lovely old willow tree in our yard, you'll see it towards the end of the post. I really like weeping willows, I've been around them all my life.

Now, in the last years, a ton of trees were cut down in my hometown, probably 70% of them, I'm not even joking - purely because of politics. They were really gorgeous, mostly old trees, or more like ents. It is obviously devastating to the bird population here, and it also angers me greatly to see the trees that were part of my childhood and life disappear.
I thought it would be great to imagine a spirit that protects these trees, hence the idea was born. The cut across the face represents a cut on a tree, and I could also try scar wax for the first time.

Originally I wanted a really dark messy look, but decided to add a yellowish green at the last minute. It also matches the color of the turning willow leaves, even though as you can see on my head, trees are still green here. I guess due to the sadly warm weather. By warm, I mean over 30°C we have been dealing with most of September and October. A shame, really.
A family member already started to yelp about Christmas and I'm overe here like, calm down, fall isn't even here yet. Hopefully November will be colorful.

I also used my beloved Solotica contact lenses as they are really light, you can read the review in this post.
forest spirit makeup |
Being a weeping willow spirit, I was repeatedly putting tears on my face, not sure if they show up on the photos that well.
I also decided I prefer liquid latex to scar wax, shame my expensive Ben Nye latex died on me and I only used it once. Now I have a cheaper one I really like, but the scar wax is not for me. It was fun to try regardless, even though you probably can't tell it's a fully made scar and not just drawn on.
Some products I used:
- Colourpop Good Sport palette - old gold shade
- Revolution Haunted House palette
- Revolution Rainbow palette
- Colourpop white concealer
- Catrice cushion eyeliner
- Colourpop SSS in High Rise and Head Rush
- my favourite lil eBay contour powder, Role Rose brand
- Catrice red glossy stain
- big-ass fake lashes that you can't even see because of the dark makeup lmao
- Solotica Hidrocor Ice coloured contacts

I haven't done a Halloween look since 2015, mostly due to bad working hours and other crap, so I am super happy I did it this year. I had more fun than with any review post I made in the last 4 years.
Heart to heart:
Random late-night thoughts. It is quite sad how blogs and the blogosphere are declining, 2 Hungarian blogpost collector websites disappeared in the last 2 years, the last one only months ago (magyarblogok.hu) and I kid you not, I used to get 1200 views on a post with the help of them and now I only get like 8. EIGHT. Not 800, only 8.
Can you imagine working on something for days for only 8 people to see it? What is the point besides me liking what I do? Not much else. The blog turned 9 years old this year, and it is so heartbreaking to see how things have changed for the worse. I won't even start on the new IG algorithm that is just as bad as facebook now, so only 5% of followers are seeing my posts, or even less. Such a shame that FB bought IG.
Anyway, those are the things I have on my mind as of late. What about you?
If you are in a country that celebrates Halloween, be safe and know that I am incredibly jealous of you. It is Halloween night as I'm writing this, and there is not a single scary movie on TV. How dare they. Even worse, I saw the first Christmas commercial 20 minutes ago.
All in all, have a lovely day / night and don't forget to be spooky. Here's to another autumn month!

Hey, just wanted to say hello from one of your longtime readers in Lithuania. It's really sad how forgotten blogs are in today's world, but I always really enjoy and appreciate your posts. I really hope there will be a blog renaissance some time in the future :( today's look is amazing, by the way, and I wish I'd have thought of something as cool for Halloween!
ReplyDeleteHi! I am so happy you commented, I never really get comments anymore. Thank you for your sweet words, you made my week. :) I also really hope blogs will be appreciated sometime in the future again. I miss the early 10's when more bloggers were present and active. Nearly everyone I ever followed stopped blogging, which is really devastating.
DeleteI am happy you like the look, it is a lot of fun to make messier type of looks such as this one. :)
Omg!!!
ReplyDeleteYour look is terribly perfect for Halloween and costume party!
I love the details around the eyes and the scar too!
Well done!
Thank you, I'm happy you like it!
